Lagos Encounters


Disclaimer: The encounters may not be so great but Lagos is a great place. This post is not to bash Lagos and its people but simply to share some encounters I’ve had in Lagos especially as a sort of newbie.

NYSC was definitely an interesting year for me and the first time that I can say I truly experienced Lagos. I properly experienced Lagos transportation, dealt with agberos/area boys and went to the market randomly. From that year alone, I have a lot of stories.

Last Thursday

It is raining season in Nigeria and right now, I am standing under shelter (a fuel station) because work is not enough for me to get drenched. It might have been before but I don’t get ready in the morning to end up looking like a drowned rat. My area has so much water, even jeeps are swimming. Lagos might be terrible but I will never forget how it rains in Abuja.

Travelling in Nigeria

Hi.

I am on my way to Bwari as I am writing this. I miss home already but what can I do?

I prefer to travel within Nigeria by road. I have no idea why. It’s nothing to do with the stories of plane crashes or anything, I just prefer it. I’ve been on flights within Nigeria. There was a flight where my ticket from London was booked for the wrong state and I had to make my way to the correct one. There was another when I was travelling last June for law school and that was with Arik Airline which you can read about here and here. Had no problems with the any of the flights I’ve been on at all. I enjoyed my flight to Abuja from Lagos more than my flight from London to Lagos. The rest have been pretty normal.
